English rock band from Northampton that, when its foundations were first laid, was called Bauhaus 1919, and is considered to be the first Gothic rock band.The year 1919 was the year in which Staatliches Bauhaus (Bauhaus in a word) was established, a German school where art, design and architecture were integrally taught. The Bauhaus (the school, not the band) was founded by celebrated architect Walter Gropius.
