Grand Funk Railroad band name origins - GTNR LocomotiveThe band name is an example of laziness: by switching a few letters the name of the legendary Grand Trunk Railroad was changed to Grand Funk Railroad.

The railway company - nowadays known as Grand Trunk Western Railroad - is still active in the US States Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. It is a subsidiary of the Canadian National Railway.
