Reo Speed Wagon band name origins - Reo Speed Wagon Truck 1939Both hard and soft rock are on the musical menu of this band from Champaign, Illinois.

In a way the band name has a connection with that of the legendary band Buffalo Springfield, because the REO Speedwagon was a truck model of the REO Motor Corporation from Lancing, Michigan. The letters REO are the initials of car manufacturer Ransom Eli Olds, the same one who was to give his name to the Oldsmobile.
