Fairport Convention

One of the most important folk bands in the English history of popular music, first playing acoustic and later electric and originating from the somewhat bourgeois district of Muswell Hill in London.

In that district the family of rhythm guitarist Simon Nicol was housed.

The house was called Fairport, and there the founding fathers of Fairport Convention convened; ergo: Fairport Convention.

Active: 1967-1979, GBR
