Steely Dan

Steely Dan band name inspiration - Naked Lunch - HippoA village with an idyllic ring to it, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, is home to Steely Dan, a pop jazz rock band built around core members Donald Jay Fagen and Walter Carl Becker.

Friend and foe seem to agree that the band name is taken from a famous book by William S. Burroughs, The Naked Lunch.

The expressive description of the author clarifies quickly what is at stake: a kind of steam powered mega dildo.

Active: 1972-1981; 1993-present, USA
