Daryl Dragon, the male half of the C&T duo, once was a singer in the Beach Boys backing band.During a tour fellow singer Mike Love put the label Captain on Dragon, who had brought that down on himself by wearing a captain's hat on stage.
So it was imperative that when later he formed a duo with Toni Tennille, the name they chose was not Daryl & Toni, but Captain and Tenille.
