Amen Corner

Band from Cardiff, Wales that seemed to have lost its heart to blues and jazz, but in the end – probably at the insistence of the record company – moved toward pop music.

The name Amen Corner was quickly found: under the same title the then renowned Dr. Rock played the best US soul music weekly from the Victoria Ballroom (later Scene Club) in Cardiff, Wales.

Dr. Rock in turn had taken the name from Amen Corner in London, a street near St. Paul's Cathedral. Or he used James Baldwin's novel Amen Corner (1955) – that is just as thinkable.

Active: 1966-1969, GBR
