Eyeless in Gaza

Where Eyeless_in_gaza have their band name from - Aldous HuxleyMartyn Bates and Peter Becker together form this English post punk duo with roots in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. In their view their music swings back and forth insanely between cinematic atmospheres and rock, pop, funk and avant folk styles.

The band name comes from the apparently literary bent Bates; he found the name as title on a novel by Aldous Huxley.

'I was reading the Huxley book when I met Pete,' Martyn says. 'It sounded perfectly nice.'

It might be noted that the title of Huxley's novel is also a point of reference to the story of Samson. The Biblical narrative states that after Samson was abandoned by God, he had his eyes gouged by the Philistines and was sentenced to hard labor in Gaza.
