Kooks - For small Z, who is a big drummer now

How the Kooks got their band name - David Bowie - Hunky DoryThe English seaside town of Brighton is the mise en place of indie pop band The Kooks.

The group gratefully makes use of the title of a song that David Bowie (born David Jones) recorded for his album Hunky Dory (1971).

Bowie/Jones wrote the song on the occasion of the birth of his son Duncan Jones, also known as Zowie Bowie or Joey Bowie.

'For small Z. ' is written on the back of the album cover, next to the title Kooks.
