Meaning of Little Feat band name - Small feet in dinosaur footprintBefore 1969 George played in Frank Zappa's The Mothers of Invention and the drummer of that band, Jimmy Carl Black, is said to have once made a comment about the small size of Lowell's shoes. The remark came in handy when George went to stand on his own feet.

As a kind of wink to the Beatles the word feet in the band name was changed to feat.
