Mansun - No use arguing with a maniac

How the band Mansun got their name - Sharon TateBritpop band from Chester, England.

First went through life as Manson, after the leader of the infamous maniacal gang of killers that butchered pregnant Sharon Tate, among others.

Not because of bad taste, but because Charles Manson objected, the name was changed to Mansun. 'That has always been the intention', was the pretty lame excuse of the band: the group supposedly wanted to pay tribute to the song A Man Called Sun by English band The Verve.

Nice to know: later Charles Manson suddenly began to write his last name as Mansun, which elicited a comment from band member Paul Draper: 'Perhaps we should sue him'.

Active: 1995-2003, GBR
