Somewhat recalcitrant indie poppers from Manchester, England, with best known band members singer Morrissey (full name Steven Patrick Morrissey) and guitarist Johnny Marr, together responsible for a number of memorable compositions.The band was controversial because the members went against the prevailing spirit of the times by not assuming a fancy band name, on the contrary, they wished to go through life as plain and simple as possible.
