The band name is owed to an ad for local radio station KSHE in St. Louis, that showed a drawing of a Polaroid bespectacled pig showing off his pumped-up biceps. That pig by the way, Sweet Meat, has been acting as a mascot for KSHE (now known as KSHE-95) for many years now.
Carey Womack, later the leader of the band (he actually had plans to become a pastor of the Baptist Church) saw that pig and casually said to fellow band member Paul Q-Pek: 'That's one bad pig!'. To which Paul replied that One Bad Pig would be a fine name for a new band.
