Sham 69

Sham69 band name explanation - Walton & Hersham Football Club
Punks from Hersham in Surrey county who obviously love football, because the band's name is related to their local football club, Walton and Hersham FC.

One of the band members is supposed to have come across a nice graffiti piece with the text Sham 69. The football team is nicknamed The Sham and '69' refers to the success year 1969, when Walton and Hersham FC won the Athenian League Premier Division championship (a local London competition).

At the moment of writing this the club plays in the South Division of the Isthmian League.
