Indie pop band from Glasgow, often compared with bands like The Smiths and Love and artists such as Bob Dylan and Nick Drake.

Where Belle and Sebastian got their band name from - Meiken Jolie cartoonBelle et Sébastien was the title of a seventies TV series, based on a children's novella by French author Cécile Aubry.

Later the overly sentimental plot of Belle et Sébastien was immortalized in a Japanese cartoon, Meiken Jolie ('Jolly, the happy dog').
