The members of the American metal core band Kill Switch Engage (Westfield, Massachusetts) are fans of the television series The X-Files. In season 5 of the series episode 11 has the title Kill Switch; that is supposed to have triggered the band name.In that particular episode a kill switch occurs: a switch that can abruptly bring a machine to a halt. There is also a film of the same name and a computer game called Kill Switch.
And - perhaps not entirely insignificant – there is also an electronic circuit that guitarists call the kill switch. For the true enthusiast: the picture shows the circuit.
