Machine Head - Seriously stringed musicians

What band name Machine Heads means - Guitar workNot just any groove metal band, because the men from Oakland, California, are described with awe as one of the pioneering bands of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.

The band name is pro lingo: machine heads are the mechanical tuning devices built into the end of the neck of a stringed instrument. Seriously stringed musicians don't go anywhere without their heads.

Active: 1992-present, USA

"Machine Head" is also the name of Deep Purple's 6th studio album. Released in 1972, it predates Robb Flynn's band by close to 2 decades.
