Fields of the Nephilim - Out of joint

Their last album was released in 2005, but from all appearances the Fields of the Nephilim, originating from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in the UK, is still active. Started as gothic rockers the English currently have recourse to gothic metal. That must have been quite a conversion.

What band name Fields of the Nephilim means - Giant Human Skeleton Hoax-9The Nephilim were giants – there is also mention of the result of crossing people and angels - whose existence is mentioned in the Bible. See for example Genesis 6:4, which states:

'The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.'

Not everyone is convinced that Nephilim were giants; others point out that the stem of the Hebrew word Nephilim is Niphal, the meaning of which comes closer to 'distinguished' than to giant.
