Goo Goo Dolls - Just in time

Started as punk rockers the Goo Goo Dolls later launched themselves into a more traditional rock repertoire.
How did Goo Goo Dolls get their band name - True Detective magazine

The Buffalo, New York based band revolves in particular around John Rzeznik and Robby Takac.

The first of these two has already explained where the band name comes from: 'We were young and we were a garage band not trying to get a deal. We had a gig that night and needed a name.'

An issue of True Detective magazine that was lying around solved the problem; in one of the ads toys of the brand Goo Goo Kids were promoted: cute baby dolls with a high level of cuddliness.

The name was taken over with a small modification.

'It's the best we came up with, and for some reason it stuck,' says Rzeznik. 'If I had five more minutes, I definitely would have picked a better name.'

Active: 1986-present, USA
