Brit pop band from London that in 1989 saw the light as Seymour.

How did Blur get their band name - Talent show juryRegarding the name Blur: the former record company clearly was not that pleased with the name Seymour (probably based on a character from a short story by George Orwell). A stupid name, was the reaction of the record bosses.

Clarification was sought and found by shortlisting possible band names. Blur was chosen, even though the band members initially had a distinct aversion to the idea.

We must keep in mind however that the outcome could have been frightfully worse for Blur, looking at some of the alternatives: Sensitize, Jacuzzi, The Shining Path.

Active: 1989-2003; 2009, GBR
