Avant-gardist synth pop group from London that went by the names Art of Noise and The Art of Noise.
The group name alludes to the manifest L'arte dei Rumori (The Art of Noises), sent by Italian futurist Luigi Russolo to his friend and composer Francesco Pratella in 1913.
In the manifest Russolo argues that electronic and other 'industrial noises' should substitute the sounds produced by traditional orchestras, as the human ear by now has become too much accustomed to ensembles working in the classical way.
