Country rockers from Ann Arbor, Michigan, who nowadays perform under the name The Commander Cody Band. The original name of course is much more fun.
According to keyboardist George Frayne (better known as Commander Cody), the origin of the name is a film that supposedly was in circulation in the 50's of the 20th century, entitled Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen.
Probably Frayne drifted off a bit here.
The band name Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen is an airy combination of Commando Cody (starring in twelve science fiction films from the 1950s) and a film by Fred Brannon, Lost Planet Airmen.
