Bright Eyes is also the title of a song that was written by Mike Batt, the eerie sounds of which were inimitably engraved into the good old vinyl platter by Art Garfunkel; the song is generally recognized as the theme tune of the film Watership Down (1978).
All well and good, but the band Bright Eyes was not named after that song. That honour goes to a 1934 film with the title - needless to say - Bright Eyes. It is a musical comedy starring Shirley Temple.
