Information Society - Yep, that's us

Where Information Society get the band name from - Alvin Toffler - Future ShockThis American dance and synth pop formation from Minneapolis, Minnesota is also popularly known as InSoc or InfoSo.

The group had a hit in 1988 with What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy), a song that fired the imagination in particular because of the samples copied and pasted in of the voices of Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock from Star Trek, text: Pure energy) and Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley, also from Star Trek, text: It's worked so far, but we're not out yet!).

Information Society is a term coined by Alvin Toffler, in his book Future Shock. He refers to a society in which the creation, distribution, use or misuse and manipulation of information are important economic, political and cultural activities.

It is, in fact, a society that is the opposite of a knowledge-based economy.
